Raymond McGhee

Raymond McGhee, Ph.D., has worked on a wide range of evaluations of technology interventions, school improvement initiatives, and out-of-school-time programs aimed at improving academic and developmental outcomes of underrepresented student groups. He is the co-project director of the evaluation of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program funded by the U.S. Department of Education, examining program quality in afterschool programming. He is also a co-PI on two National Science Foundation grants: one studying recruiting and retention efforts supporting increases in student enrollment in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among a group of higher education institutions in Virginia; and another studying different partnership models between community colleges and industry that integrate industry goals in the classroom.

Dr. McGhee is a member of the study team supporting the design and implementation of a middle school science model between the New York City Department of Education and the American Museum of Natural History, funded by the Carnegie Corporation. He also serves as deputy director of the evaluation of the National Science Foundation program Revitalizing Computing Pathways (CPATH) program evaluation documenting efforts to transform computing. Dr. McGhee has served as a member of the SRI team conducting the evaluation of comprehensive high school reform initiatives being implemented in the Chicago Public Schools. Dr. McGhee received his doctorate in education from the University of California, Los Angeles.
