Katherine Baisden
Senior Scientific Programmer/AnalystKatherine Baisden is working on the analysis of a comprehensive study of teacher development in California for the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning. She has also been involved in the programming and statistical analysis of the Title I Accountability Study, the Public Charter School Program (PCSP) Evaluation, the Alternative Certification evaluation, the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards study, Arts Education in California, National Educational Technology Trends Study, California Subject Matter project, the Kipp School evaluation, the study of Teacher Induction in the Midwest, and the Texas High School Project.
Ms. Baisden's previous academic and work experiences range from working with survey data from simple random samples to multistage complex sample designs, database management (small databases to large medical databases containing several million records), and pilot-testing self-designed surveys. Ms. Baisden also has taught courses on analysis of secondary data involving minority populations and on SAS programming fundamentals. Her previous substantive areas of investigation have included political science, public health, and minority populations, which have led to coauthorship of journal articles and book chapters.
Ms. Baisden has programming experience in SAS and SUDAAN. She received a B.S. in international relations from American University in Washington, D.C., and a master's degree in political science from the University of Michigan. She has complemented her skills by attending statistical courses at the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research at the University of Michigan and the SAS Institute. She has presented papers at the SAS User's Group International Meetings (SUGI) and the regional SAS group (Western Users of SAS Software).
