Daniel Humphrey
Associate DirectorDr. Daniel Humphrey, Ed.D., is the Associate Director of SRI International's Center for Education Policy. His research focuses on teacher development, urban education, and education reform. Dr. Humphrey is leading the National Evaluation of the Teacher Incentive Fund, a major federal effort to reform educator compensation. He is also the principal investigator for a study of teacher induction in Illinois, a co-principal investigator for the National Evaluation of the Teaching American History Grant Program, and a senior researcher for the Evaluation of the Texas High School Project.
Dr. Humphrey recently led two studies of school reform in Chicago, including an examination of the Renaissance 2010 initiative and another study of high school reform in the district. Among his other recent research are a major national study of alternative teacher certification and a study of the impact of National Board Certified Teachers on low-performing schools.
Dr. Humphrey began his career as an elementary school teacher and then a principal. He holds an Ed.D. in history and education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
