Evaluation of FIRST 5 Santa Clara County

In 2006, SRI began the design and implementation of an evaluation framework for FIRST 5 Santa Clara County (FIRST 5) funded programs and services. This project will be completed in two phases over 3 years. Phase I consists of developing baseline measures and both process and outcome evaluation. Phase II is the implementation of a longitudinal study and continued process and outcome evaluation. The evaluation is designed to:

  • Address information and accountability needs, and include outcomes that reflect community priorities
  • Promote the use of data to inform program quality improvement
  • Document the impact of FIRST 5-funded programs on children, families, providers and the community
  • Respect the culture, strengths, needs, and expectations of providers and participants, and include their perspectives in all phases of the evaluation
  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate important data and information to stakeholders and the community at large
  • Enhance the methodological and technical strategies to support the rigorous study of the FIRST 5 Community Investment Strategy
