Peggy Giacalone

Research Analyst

Peggy Giacalone focuses primarily on studies dealing with young children and students with disabilities, including the National Longitudinal Transition Study-2, the Special Education Elementary Longitudinal Study, and the National Effectiveness of First Step to Success. For these studies, she supports the nationwide assessments of participating students' academic performance. She also contributed to the Statewide Data Collection and Evaluation of First 5 California Funded Programs, focusing on the Kindergarten Entry Profile component, as well as on the Special Needs Project. On these projects, her work included data collection (both site observation and interviews), site liaison activities, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and reporting of study findings.

Ms. Giacalone has worked with children and young adults with special needs for more than 20 years, including work with parents of special needs children and related support groups, inclusion advocacy, and involvement with the local ARC board.
