Wide Range of New Findings Presented by CEHS Researchers

June 2007

The latest results from several CEHS projects are being shared with other researchers this week at the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) research conference in Washington, DC, June 7 and 8.

Drs. Mary Wagner and Carl Sumi, with colleagues from the Oregon Research Institute, will offer a panel session entitled Efficacy and Effectiveness Evaluation: A Behavior Research Example, featuring both SRI’s National Behavior Research Coordination Center and the National Effectiveness Study of First Step to Success. The latter project, a “scale-up” randomized trial of an intervention designed to improve the behavior and academic performance of young students with serious behavior problems at school, also will be described in a poster presentation, The National Effectiveness Study of First Step to Success.

Two other posters will be presented by SRI researchers. Dr. Renee Cameto will introduce the National Center on Special Education Research’s National Study on Alternate Assessments (NSAA), and Drs. Lynn Newman and Mary Wagner will offer new data from the National Longitudinal Transition Study-2 (NLTS2) in Postschool Outcomes and Experiences of Youth with Disabilities up to 4 Years Out of High School: A National Perspective.
