SRI Researcher Appointed to National Research Council Committee

April 2007

Dr. Kathleen Hebbeler, Program Manager of the Community Services and Strategies Program in CEHS, has been appointed to the National Research Council (NRC) Committee on Developmental Outcomes and Assessments for Young Children. The panel was created in response to a Congressional mandate to review and provide appropriate guidance on assessments for young children. The panel will focus on identifying key outcomes for children ages birth to 5 and on the quality and purpose of various techniques and instruments for assessing development. Dr. Hebbeler’s work at SRI with the Early Childhood Outcome (ECO) Center, the National Early Intervention Longitudinal Study (NEILS), and in support of several states’ efforts to develop early childhood outcome measurement systems qualifies her for this prestigious appointment.
