CEHS Researchers Brief U.S. House and Senate Staff

March 2007

Ellen Schiller of the Center for Education and Human Services (CEHS) gave a briefing to staff of the U.S. House Committee on Education and Labor and the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions on March 1, 2007, on the access of students with disabilities to the general education curriculum, drawing on findings for SRI International’s longitudinal studies of children and youth with disabilities. The briefing is one in a series of briefings on the intersection of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), being held in preparation for the reauthorization of NCLB. Mary Wagner, also of CEHS, will participate in another briefing in this series on April 19 to provide information on the school completion and postsecondary transition experiences of students with disabilities. Jose Blackorby will brief the committees May 3 on accountability systems and achievements of students with disabilites.
